i have a suggestion for lichess.

I've repeatedly asked in this forum how that second idea would work - it sounds like a lot of work, and it's already possible to create private (invite-only) tournaments and advertise them in both teams' forums (but there's nothing to prevent team members from facing each other).
Did someone not put up money themselves for a crazyhouse tournament prize fund and top rated players sandbagged to win $25? Money and online chess will never work as it just encourages cheaters. Even chess.coms titled tuesday is not immune. Tal Baron and Dlugy for example ruined their reputations for a few thousand bucks.

I think number 2 is a great suggestion. I joined LM Lance's fan club a while back but as far as I can see it is pointless. Being able to play team games would be great!
I like the idea of team matches along the lines of the USCF yearly format where 4 players play four players and an average rating qualifies for specific sections.

Forming "clubs" (such as chess.com promotes) and having matches with dozens of players is not particularly attractive imo. Clubs tend to have their own "agendas". The actual chess gets left behind.

I'd suggest 4 player teams with 2 alternates. Someone mentioned the Chess Pro League. It requires someone to volunteer and do the legwork. No need for a playoff system but a simple ladder could work.
@mdinnerspace what do you mean by clubs having their own agendas? Clubs on chess.com were fun because you can challenge other teams and play vote chess etc. I was an admin of the Intellectual Chessist Society on chess.com. Our club was designed for serious chess players and gave true intellectuals a safe place to discuss chess away from trolls.

As is it is just now, there really is no point in clubs apart from people with agendas (coaches looking for students etc)
LOL.
Chessist is not a word.
The Society's members, including several Admins and the most notorious of all, 2Q1C are constantly being banned for one abuse or another. The "Trolls" in the club are legendary as you are well aware 2Q.
The first suggestion about "for money tournaments online" is generally a bad idea unless some wealthy philanthropist wants to donate prize funds as lichess isn't for profit and ad free, and wouldn't want to burden them with such a thing when they deserve any donations they get.

The problem with such tournaments is they bring out the cheaters in droves. People from economically bad off (socialist) countries such as Venezuela would come here in the hundreds using computer engines to try to get at that prize money because it beats waiting in a bread line.
Hmmm... spreading "the cheating hysteria" that's discussed in another thread. Utter nonsense by lurarose with obvious overtones of discrimination and political agenda.

On the contrary, I think #16 raises an appropriate point, although not in a perfectly neutral tone (which in writing is difficult if not possible to achieve).
sounds interesting.

maybe for team touranment you can split people into classes,
and have a represenative for each group.

for example: titled, expert, class a, etc.
