My student has lost access to his account. Help bring him back.

I have the same issue. I can't log in to my another account. If the username and the password is the same word, you get the message to change your password via e-mail.
Is your student completely sure, that he was typing right e-mail adress.
Lichess obviously changed security settings.
use the exact email you used to register to that specific account. (I think) using other email addresses doesn't help.
and check *all* folders in which you will probably get emails (inbox, spam and else)

Had the same problem too and I didn't understand how when it let me create the "easy" password initially
First, as others have mentioned, make really sure you are using the correct email associated with the account. For security reasons, Lichess will not tell you if the email is incorrect.

Also, make sure you are definitely not receiving the emails. 99% of the time, it just takes a few minutes to arrive or it ends up getting flagged as spam and people don't look properly.

You can also try logging in by email (lichess.org/auth/magic-link) and then change your password after you're logged in.

If none of that works, write to contact@lichess.org.
My problem with another account, mentioned in #15 is because i don't have a valid e-mail address.
That account is pretty old, at the time the registration with temporary mail was possible.
So there's no e-mail adress i can log in with or change password.
Is only contact@lichess.org my solution? @benwerner
