I observed that my own average rating, as well as the average rating of all my opponents who have had their accounts for at least two years have increased by about 100 points since the start of 2020. I wonder if anyone has experienced the same thing or even better if there are any statistics confirming or disproving this observation?!

Due to covid and the movie "Queen's Gambit" there has been an influx of new players, who were seeded at 1500 and who donated rating to the pool while they descended to their true rating.

I think you might have misunderstood me. I am not talking about chess improvement but rather the ratings changing in value, call it inflation if you like.

I had the same thought but "The Queen's Gambit" was released quite a few months after the ratings had gone up. I think the influx of new players due to covid and them subsequently "donating" their rating points on the other hand is quite a valid theory.
