Chess 960

Do you belive that , Fisher random 960 chess is the future of the modern chess, and if it is ,why the Lichess put it into the corner, since no regular hourly tournaments on bulet and blitz 1 and 3 min.
... cannot be yet the future of chess, as "nobody" plays it, especially longer time controls. I see always a dozen of same names playing time controls over 5 minutes. And if you want to play a 30 minute game, you need to wait a long time; and usually will get someone rated 1500 provisional.
I think it will always be seen as a variant of classical chess, because for the vast majority of players, avoiding theory (which Chess960 was designed to do) is just not an issue.

All the same, I think very highly of 960. I've found it brings about "fantasy" chess positions that are almost impossible to arrive at normally, allowing for unusual tactics and creativity.

To answer your question about tournaments, standard is about 30 times more popular on this site than Chess960: en.lichess.org/stat/rating/distribution/chess960
If you change the rules of a game very dramatically it will be a different game. Why change a game that is already perfect and has been loved for ages? To me chess 960 and other variants are for people who like chess but don't really love it.
Fischers idea with 960 was that theoretical knowledge would be less important and therefore natural skills would be more important.
I think chess Fischer really the high point in the development of chess. This is the most creative option coming to genuine art.
My experience with 960 from I started ; The first 1-2 weeks I kept making the same mistakes in the first or 2nd move. That bad habit never really seems to go away. I think it might have to do with I play mostly blitz and classical 960. I think it's important for kids to know from their teacher that the first move is the most important move in 960, and the lessons should be totally different than the standard chess lessons. To be humble in 960 and willingness to learn and strive for perfection are really virtues IMHO.

Thx
I agree with those who don't like chess "variants" so much. However I do think the time-control rules should be simpler. Why not just have a maximum time per move?
I've almost exclusively switched to 960 for about a year now, it's so much more fun for all the reasons mentioned above

Also the daily tournament here is pretty nice, only the time is inconvenient :)
