Explaining the joke

We just published "Hackers Leak Lichess Source Code" on lichess.org/blog/YkYNyREAAB8Amiit/hackers-leak-lichess-source-code.

It's an April fools joke. There was no hacker, and nothing was leaked. The joke is that it doesn't make any sense, because lichess is open source.

Being open source means that all your code is public. Everyone can download and read the Lichess source code. It has always been that way.

Open source is the best way to build software for a number of reasons, and it has resulted in the most successful and used programs, such as Linux (on which almost all servers run, as well as all Android phones), Firefox or Chrome.

Read more about open source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_source
Get all the lichess source code: lichess.org/source

I thought this clarification could be useful, don't hesitate to send it to people who need help making sense of the joke.

i should have been expecting it, but i wasn't fooled :D
at first i was afraid since i thought they had access to every user account. when i read it didnt, i understood.
To the people who thought it was real: Lichess can never get hacked when Mr.Thibault is here!
