@Amadan: it's stupid to createa tourney named as "World Cup" with a time rate of 3 min; there are a lof of tourneys with that rate, even bullet.
Nice to see that I'm not the only one, who would like to play this with rapid games instead of blitz. On the other hand, I really see this cheating problem. To # 39: Here are people, who have already played thousands of games and a lot of them from first to last move with engine and they are still not detected.
Here is my idea: players must register one week before the start of the tournament, so there is time to check if they have played any suspicious games so far. Maybe we could do this ourselves, let's say everyone checks one other player, 10 games, check every move with an engine.

Great idea soldier! I would like to see a bullet World Cup. In a format of a knock out, heads up. Say best of 3 or 5 in the first rounds, and after maybe best of 7 and the final maybe best of 9 or something. You could set it up like a tennis tournament, where the better seeded players according to their rating are more likely to play each other in later rounds.
Also, it would be great to have someone stream the event but for commentating purposes, analyzing the games in process for instance. The winner could get a LichessWorld Cup Bullet trophy or something.

I think time control isn't problem, the tournament could run in two categories-bullet 1 or 2 min. and high-whatever you like, as there is world championship in normal and blitz, same could be here. Players who desire bullet will enter bullet, others in second category.
Also I'm still on the auto-pairing team idea ( I think auto-pairing is better because if players create teams themselves there would be few stronger team and the rest-weak teams) as we already play enough single player tournaments. This way everyone, even low rated players would have even chance of win and also this would give more convincing argument not to use engine.

I wanna be like the word cup, but i dont mean to be one tike in a year, it could ne every day to number 44 .TITANOS you idea to have autopairing team is great....but if someonevwin but his teammates lost he will ble disapointed, if there are teams maybe they shouldnt be knockouts, if it is heads up 1 vs 1, there should be, it could be daily cup, weekly cup, montly cup maybe word cup 1 time in tue year...i oike the idea more rounds at late stage..

A realy cool idea.
Swiss system -as I said- is the best system to play a tourney like this. Time must not be so slow (more than 6 min.) but neither a very fast tourney (less than 3 min.)
I think if you are going to do it, it has to be in similar format to the world cup with knock-out.

In case of a 1-1 there should be an armageddon game in which white has 5 minutes. Both players bid for the black pieces and draw odds. The guy who bids less time gets black. Increment of 1 or 2 second(s) starting at move 51.
E.g. player A bids 4:10, player B bids 3:42. Then player B will get black with 3:42 on the clock.
7 rounds (128 players) should take around 4 hours.
1st prize = LM title
